In the old beautitul Castle of Ripa d'Orcia
(XIII sec.), set upon a rise in the centre of Orcia Valley,
thanks to a skillful work of renovation, there is nowadays
a comfortable country Residence with rooms and apartments
ideal for relaxing stays. Ripa d'Orcia with its splendid location,
offers tourists who want to visit the beautiful cities of
art in Tuscany, Umbria and Northern Latium, an ideal place
to start.
The mediaeval Castle of Ripa d'Orcia was probably built in
the early Middle Ages, but it does not appear in official
deeds until 1218 when it is mentioned in the "Estimo",
a generaI census of land and castles. During this period the
Castle belonged to the Salimbeni dynasty. In the 1484 the
castle along with its fortress, the village and a large part
of surrounding land became the property of the Piccolomini
of the Carli lineage, whose descendants still own it today.
Ripa d'Orcia,
an architectural complex which has survived virtually unchanged
to the present day, offers to his guest and visitors hospitality
and (by appointment) tasting of the products of the farm:
Orcia wines, Extravergin Olive Oil and Grappa.
In the
historic houses which have comprised the Borgo, from 1990
there are seven large apartments (self-catering, residence
type, 45/75 sqm large), which are composed by large living
room with cooking facilities, open fireplace, one or two double
room, private bathroorn/shower, sitting room, panoramic views,
safe, indipendent heating, terrace, rustic furniture in tuscan

In addition,
inside the ancient village, there are six comfortable double

rustic tuscan furniture. The reception, gardens, public telephone,
panorarnic terrace, a little restaurant, and an original common
